William Austin Gray has enjoyed participating in scouting since he became a Cub Scout in the second grade. He is an active member of Boy Scout Troop 697 in Tempe.

Last October, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout by completing his project for Liberty Wildlife, a rehabilitation center treating Arizona raptor birds. The center needed 50 new weatherproof wooden clipboard boxes to hold “care and feeding instructions” for their volunteers, which Gray built and assembled with the help of troop members as well as the Webelos den he was mentoring.

He met his goal and delivered the 50 boxes to Liberty Wildlife on his 14th birthday. Will is in the ninth-grader at Horizon Community Learning Center in Ahwatukee Foothills where he enthusiastically runs on the cross country team. His Eagle Scout Court of Honor was at St. James Episcopal Church on Feb. 24.
