Savannah Rose Cunningham was one of only seven honor graduates from boot camp among 419 recruits.

Savannah Rose Cunningham of Ahwatukee has taken the first step toward accomplishing her dream of becoming a U.S. Marine.

She made it through boot camp at Parris Island, North Carolina, and was one of only seven honor graduates among 419 recruits.

A 2015 Horizon Honors graduate, Cunningham was also recognized by the Corps as the most physically fit recruit in her company with a perfect 600 PFT/CFT score. She was promoted immediately to Private First Class.

Cunningham has completed the 30-day combat-training course in Jacksonville, North Carolina, required of all Marines to earn the designation as a rifleman. She also graduated from Aviation Ordnance School in Pensacola, Florida, will now be stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, for training as an aviation armaments specialist specific to Huey and Cobra helicopters before deployment.
