The Mountain Pointe High School marquee stands without its signage after the first dust storm took down part of it. They are waiting on a replacement.

The first big dust storm on July 5 that took everyone by surprise and made national news also claimed a panel on the main sign at the entrance to Mountain Pointe High School. The lighting and the back panel were removed afterward for safety reasons.

The school will replace just one of the panels and is currently in the process of designing an all-new marquee, assistant principal Patricia Goolsby said, adding that she will present the plan for it in the spring and they will decide how high a priority it will be for budgetary reasons.
