The fine art of storytelling will be celebrated at the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute's annual fall concert starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, in the college's Performance Hall at 7050 S. 24th St.

Five members of the college's storytelling institute will present a variety of intriguing and entertaining tales from a diverse array of cultures. Featured tellers will be Marilyn Omifunke Torres, Harriet Cole, Kindra Hall, Kelly Davis and Doug Bland. Emcee will be Storytelling Institute Director Liz Warren.

The SMCC Storytelling Institute is one of only a handful of academic programs in the nation to focus on this ancient art form, and is the only Arizona institution to offer an Academic Certificate in Storytelling. SMCC storytelling programs are not exclusively children's events, but often contain sophisticated themes and content and are suitable for both adults and young people.

General admission tickets are $10 per person and are available at Maricopa Community College students will be admitted free of charge with ID.
