Rodeo-style competition allows electric utility technology students to showcase skills

More than 50 Electric Utility Technology (EUT) students from across the United States will have the chance to participate in Chandler-Gilbert Community College’s sixth annual Collegiate Lineman’s Competition on Friday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the CGCC Pecos campus athletic fields.

Hosted by the college’s Electric Utility Technology Program, in partnership with Arizona Public Service and the Salt River Project, this rodeo-style competition will include speed climbing, cross arm change, and C-1 framing, as well as written tests, all which will showcase the abilities of EUT students from Arizona, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana and Michigan. SRP apprentice lineman will also compete in this year’s competition.
