The Kids In Need Foundation, a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free school supplies to economically disadvantaged school children and underfunded teachers, has launched a teacher grant program sponsored by writing instrument manufacturer Bic USA Inc.

Through Sept. 30, teachers from Valley schools qualified to shop at Treasures 4 Teachers in Tempe can visit the Kids In Need Foundation website, www.kinf.org, to apply for a Bic Handwriting Project grant.

Grants, which are each worth $250, will be given to certified prekindergarten through 12th-grade teachers who wish to conduct classroom projects that will enhance the writing skills of their students.

Applicants will be asked to include activities in their projects that call for students to handwrite paragraphs or essays.

For more information about the grants, visit www.kinf.org.
