Dr. Rufus Glasper, chancellor of the Maricopa Community Colleges, is one of 20 education leaders appointed to a commission to study the regulation of distance education.

Glasper’s appointment to the Commission on Regulation of Postsecondary Distance Education was announced recently by its founding organizations, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and the State Higher Education Officers (SHEEO). The commission is headed by former U.S. Education Secretary Richard W. Riley.

The commission will research and develop recommendations to address the regulatory costs and inefficiencies faced by postsecondary institutions that, while offering educational opportunities in multiple state jurisdictions, must comply with state regulations that often are inconsistent.
