Tara Dale, a seventh grade science teacher at Kyrene Akimel A-al Middle School, and Laurie Jake, sixth grade science teacher at Kyrene Centennial Middle School, have been invited to be guest speakers at the Arizona Science Teacher Association conference on Oct. 22.

Dale and Jake will share strategies for including reading and writing objectives in the science classroom. This is part of the Kyrene science curriculum and is further supported by the district's Writing and Reading Across the Curriculum (WRAC) efforts.

Dale is a fourth-year teacher at Akimel A-al and a member of the 7B team. She was previously honored as Tempe School Credit Union Educator of the Year and attended NASA's space camp for science teachers. This training enables her to bring a moon rock display to the school every year. She serves on the school's WRAC committee and sponsors the school's science club.

Jake has been teacher at Kyrene Centennial for the past five years. She is an outstanding teacher who goes out of her way to help her students be successful in the classroom. Jake has been a longstanding member of WRAC and is the coach for the Centennial Science Olympiad Club.
