In an ongoing effort to create new career opportunities for Valley residents, South Mountain Community College (SMCC) is proud to announce a new session of a popular health care job training program.

SMCC, in partnership with Boston Reed College, will offer courses to train individuals to become Clinical Medical Assistants. Clinical Medical Assistants help physicians carry out procedures, care for patients, perform basic lab tests and administer medications. Both day and evening courses are available. The program also includes unpaid externships (on-the-job training) of 120 to 160 hours in the Phoenix area.

Interested students are encouraged to attend a free orientation starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, in the SMCC Student Union, 7050 S. 24th Street. The orientation session is presented free of charge, with no obligation.

Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Sept. 28 at the SMCC Ahwatukee Foothills Center, 10429 S. 51st St. Daytime sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., while evening sessions run from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

For more information, call (602) 243-8034, e-mail smcc@smcmail.maricopa.edu or visit http://healthcare.southmountaincc.edu.
