SMCC classical music concert to aid student scholarships

A pair of South Mountain Community College music faculty members will take to the stage starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in a very special concert that will raise funds for the SMCC STARS student scholarship fund.

Isola Jones, Adjunct Voice Instructor, will perform arias by Verdi, Puccini, Bizet and Saint-Saëns. Jones, a mezzo soprano, has performed worldwide and sung more than 500 performances with New York's famed Metropolitan Opera. Henry Rose, Music Faculty, will perform several piano pieces, including Preludes and Etudes-Tableaux by Rachmaninoff.

The concert will take place in the South Mountain Community College Performance Hall at 7050 S. 24th St. (just north of Baseline Road).

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 55 and older, $5 for children 12 and younger and free for Maricopa Community College District students. Proceeds go to benefit the SMCC STARS student scholarship fund. Tickets may be purchased at www.showup.com.
