The president of the Arizona Board of Regents, Tom Anderes, has announced that he will not seek a contract extension to his existing three-year term ending June 30, 2013.

President Anderes was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Arizona Higher Education Enterprise Plan, a comprehensive strategic plan that will steer system and university decision making for years to come. The plan, which includes metrics that measure university and system progress in the areas of educational excellence and access, research, workforce and community, and productivity, represents a national model. In addition, he serves as co-chair of Getting AHEAD (Access to Higher Education and Degrees), a statewide initiative to increase access to and productivity in higher education funded by the Lumina Foundation; co-chair of the Joint Council of Presidents, a committee composed of presidents and chancellors from Arizona’s public university system and community colleges; and has traveled the state to speak about issues facing higher education.
