William Barfield Sr. and Frank Matus, both of Desert Vista High School, died over the weekend according to school officials.
Barfield, a school booster and youth football coach in the area, died Saturday, Feb. 16 after a long battle fighting life-threatening injuries from an auto accident back in September.
Matus, who was a school custodian, passed away Saturday night. Information about his cause of death was not available.
Principal Dr. Anna Battle wrote on the school’s Facebook page last Sunday that Matus was “very responsive to everyone’s needs and always with a smile on his face.”
Services for Barfield will be at Mountain Park Community Church, 2408 E. Pecos Road, on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. Services for Matus are also scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5445 E. Calle San Angelo in Guadalupe.
