Family household size and income will be used to determine eligibility for free and reduced-price meal benefits for the 2012-2013 school year in the Kyrene School District.
Children from households whose income is at or below the guidelines are eligible for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.
Application forms with the income guidelines are being distributed to all households with a letter informing households of the availability of free and reduced-price meals for their children.
Applications are available at the office in each school or online at kyrene.org/foodservices.

Desert Vista teacher wins ‘Pay it Forward’ award
Dan Zavaleta, robotics and engineering teacher at Desert Vista High School, was awarded with cash from CBS 5’s “Pay It Forward.” Zavaleta was awarded with $500 for his teaching and for his work with the Atlantis Robotics Team. He is known for his dedication to the team, and always paying for the spare, underwater robotics parts and equipment out of pocket.
Zavaleta said the money will go right back to funding for projects and the robotics team.
