Tough economic times increase the burden on organizations such as Homeward Bound, which provides assistance to struggling families. Homeward Bound, based in Phoenix, houses upwards of 150 families. Summit School hosted their seventh annual Thanksgiving community outreach project to assist families by providing all of the foods needed for a complete traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Each class, preschool through eighth grade, donated functional laundry or wicker baskets and filled them with all of the ingredients for a full Thanksgiving meal, including gift certificates for perishable items. To add joy to the day, families also received festive napkins, a fall table cloth and a board game, creating an enjoyable meal and family fun. This year Summit's student council will deliver 33 baskets to Homeward Bound, 12 more than they are expecting!
