Kemmer headed to Cornell College in Iowa

Valley Christian senior and Ahwatukee Foothills resident Tana Kemmer has announced her intent to enroll and play basketball at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. One of the state’s all-time leading three-point shooters and an exceptional student, Kemmer is a four-year letter-winner for the Trojans, a team which went 114-9 during her high school career and won two state championships.

Prom dresses needed for donation this weekend

Brown Mackie College to host public open house

DV Spring Dance Clinic slated for this Saturday, March 23

Desert Vista High School’s dancers invite young dancers to have fun while learning dance techniques at the Spring Dance Clinic on Saturday, March 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. Walk-in registration and pre-registration check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. The dance clinic is open to all students in grades Pre-K through eighth grade.

Lifetime Eye Care hosts teacher appreciation week

All preschool through high school teachers are encouraged to visit Lifetime Eye Care for teacher appreciation week, March 11-15. Teachers visiting for an eye exam will receive a gift bag with chocolates, a $10 gift card, glasses cleaner, and more. Teachers will be entered into a raffle, where one could win a $100 gift card to the Melting Pot restaurant.

Rachel’s Challenge at Desert Vista Jan. 28

Desert Vista High School will host the nationwide program, Rachel’s Challenge, on Monday, Jan. 28. Already a presence in Kyrene School District middle schools, the program is based on the life of Rachel Scott, the first person killed in the Columbine tragedy of 1999, and it is important for students to hear her message of kindness and compassion.
