Anthony Ameen, a local Veteran and 2000 Desert Vista high school graduate, spoke to the Rotary Club of Ahwatukee Foothills in December at the Grace Inn. Color Guard members from Post 64 of the American Legion were also in attendance.

Ameen, a Navy Corpsman, was injured in Afghanistan more than 2 years ago during a firefight when an explosion tore into his body as he was attempting to reach an injured Marine. Ameen discussed his combat injuries which include the loss of his lower leg together with injuries to his other leg and his wrist. He also related the hardships that he has had to endure, including but not limited to the 33 surgeries he has had to date.

The Rotary Club of Ahwatukee Foothills meets most Tuesday evenings at 6:15 p.m. at the Grace Inn. For more information, contact Rick DePonte, President at (480) 994-2000 or rdeponte@mclawfirm.com.
