A $70,000 grant from the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services will enhance Hospice of the Valley’s care for patients who are military veterans.

The grant will support palliative care services for veterans with late-stage chronic illness living at home provided through Arizona Palliative Home Care, a program of Hospice of the Valley.
As part of the project, the agency’s Salutes Program also will recruit and train additional volunteers who are veterans. These volunteers visit with patients, allowing them the opportunity to reminisce about their experiences, and also present special lapel pins and small branch of service flags in recognition of patients’ service.
