Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert medical centers were recognized by Practice Greenhealth as recipients of the 2012 Environment Excellence Awards.
Chandler Regional was awarded with Partner Recognition, granted to health care facilities that implement environmental improvements. Award recipients have achieved progress in several areas including pollution prevention and other sustainability projects, and have at least a 10 percent recycling rate for their total waste stream.
Mercy Gilbert was awarded with the Partner for Change award, granted to health care facilities that have established environmental programs and continuously improve and expand upon these programs on the path to sustainability. Award recipients recycle a minimum of 15 percent of their total waste, have a mercury elimination program in place with a plan for total elimination, and have implemented multiple pollution prevention projects or other sustainability programs.
