The Lantern Award recognizes an emergency room’s commitment to quality, safety, a healthy work environment and innovation in nursing practice and emergency care.

One of the award’s eight recipients, Chandler Regional Medical Center was evaluated by a team of anonymous reviewers on a range of performance and outcome metrics, as well as qualitative questions about noteworthy practices and attributes of their emergency room.

The Lantern Award is named in honor of Florence Nightingale, who is credited with changing nursing from a mostly untrained job to a skilled, science-based profession.
