Chronic pain syndrome is a constellation of syndromes that usually do not respond to the medical model of care. This condition is best managed with a multidisciplinary approach.

The amount of time someone has to be in pain for it to be considered chronic pain syndrome varies. Some consider pain lasting for more than six months as diagnostic, while others have said the minimum is three months. It has been suggested that any pain that lasts longer than the reasonable expected healing time for the tissues involved, should be considered chronic pain.

There will be a free seminar from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 at Mercy Gilbert medical office building, 3420 S. Mercy Road, as board certified anesthesiologist Matthew Crooks, M.D., discusses chronic pain syndrome and how to best manage it. Dinner will be provided.

Registration is required for this event. RSVP to ResourceLink toll free at (877) 728-5414 or ResourceLine@chw.edu
