Local businesses are joining together to host a water safety event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at Foothills Ace Hardware, 1335 E. Chandler Blvd. They will be asking people to sign a water safety pledge stressing the importance of staying close to children whenever they are in or near a pool. Those who sign the pledge will be given a designated Water Watcher lanyard. Both the fire department and Southwest Ambulance will be on hand demonstrating their equipment and going over life-saving techniques. Balloons, games and snacks will be provided for the kids.
