Phoenix City Council members recently received an update on the city’s outsourcing efforts at the Finance, Efficiency, Innovation and Sustainability Subcommittee meeting.
“Two years ago, the city manager created the Innovation and Efficiency Task Force, with business leaders from the private sector and city staff who were charged with finding opportunities for rightsourcing, innovations and efficiencies,” said Councilman Bill Gates, chairman of the City Council Finance, Efficiency, Innovation and Sustainability Subcommittee.
“I am pleased with their progress, but there is much more work to do. I appreciate that the group has now identified additional opportunities for outsourcing, and look forward to developing strategies on how to implement these efforts in the future.”
In 2011-12, the city has outsourced $476.5 million of projects and programs, goods and services, a 38.6 percent increase in the outsourcing efforts from just five years ago.
