(AP) - Phoenix police officers will be equipped with a service weapon, a flashlight and something new, a body camera, as they patrol west Phoenix.
The Phoenix Police Department, along with the Arizona State University College of Public Programs, received a $500,000 federal grant to purchase 50 on-officer cameras for the Maryvale precinct.
KTAR radio (http://bit.ly/n8LcW6 ) reports the grant will allow both Phoenix police and ASU to examine the impact the cameras have on crime, officer satisfaction and police accountability.
