Nine after-school programs and educators from Phoenix, Lake Havasu City, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Morristown and Tempe have been named finalists in three categories for 2012 Afterschool Awards of Excellence. The awards are presented by the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence (AzCASE).

Winners will be named in each category at the 11th annual Spotlight on Afterschool: Awards of Excellence Luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Phoenix Convention Center, West Building Ballroom, 100 N. 3rd St. in downtown Phoenix.

The awards recognize innovative after-school programs and staff for their exemplary work in furthering the delivery of quality child development programs in out-of-school-time settings.

In addition to the award winners, Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton will be recognized as the 2012 Afterschool Champion for his efforts supporting after-school and youth development programs in the city of Phoenix.

Single tickets for the luncheon are $75. Table sponsorships are available. To register and for more information, visit www.azafterschool.org.
