The Helen S. Boylan Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to Hospice of the Valley for its pediatric music therapy program.
The grant will support harp and music therapy for pediatric hospice and palliative care patients in their homes and at Ryan House, a respite and palliative care home operated in partnership with Hospice of the Valley.
Funds also will be used to purchase new musical instruments and interactive equipment to improve traditional and adaptive music experiences for the children.
The grant will build on the success of the pediatric harp and music therapy program, which received support from the Boylan Foundation in 2010.
The goal of the program is to offer children with life-limiting illnesses a healthy expressive outlet and comfort. The program serves more than 120 children and families.
The Boylan Foundation is a private family foundation established in 1982 to continue the family tradition of commitment to enhancing the quality of life of the community through grants to qualified charitable organizations.
