Phoenix’s Community and Economic Development Department (CEDD) recently was named Economic Development Organization of the Year-Large Community by the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) during its annual awards ceremony.

The award honors individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to the advancement of economic growth in Arizona.

AAED recognized CEDD, known for long-term economic development leaders who are committed to making Phoenix a better city.

Specifically, two directors over the past year made significant contributions to the city’s economic growth: Paul Blue, who set the pace for a strong Phoenix economic recovery now serves as the mayor’s chief of staff, and John Chan, current CEDD director who captured AAED’s economic developer of the year in 2009.
