The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce has welcomed three new student interns to its team this summer to bring fresh new ideas to the chamber office.

The newest intern, Rachel Perrine, is joining the chamber right off the plane from England, after doing a semester at the University of Manchester.

Perrine is an Arizona State University student finishing up her degree in communications and tourism management and development. Perrine hopes to learn more about event planning and effective communication.

Kerstin Grund is joining the chamber from Missoula, Mont. She has one more year at the University of Montana studying marketing with a minor in psychology. She plans to attend graduate school after she finishes.

Grund wants to learn the non-profit side of marketing and see how to build small businesses within a community.

Alex Kiernan is the youngest intern to join the chamber, and has come to Ahwatukee all the way from Dublin, Ireland.

At 15, Kiernan attends high school in Dublin and will be in America for seven months. During his time here he is helping to re-design the website for the chamber.

Kiernan is also in charge of a marketing website called Community Pi and is helping to design the website for an organization called Show Racism the Red Card, which provides schools and sports groups with resources to stop racism.

Through his internship at the chamber Kiernan hopes to gain more experience with building websites in a business environment.

Reach the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber at (480) 753-7676 or www.ahwatukeechamber.com.
