AARP Driver Safety is celebrating and recognizing teachers this summer through the Educator Appreciation Promotion.

Beginning now through Aug. 31, all current and retired educators and school personnel are invited to take a driver safety classroom course for just $5 (saving up to $9 off the normal course price).

The Educator Appreciation Promotion compliments AARP’s long history of supporting and serving teachers.

AARP Driver Safety’s Educator Appreciation Promotion is offered to individuals who have been an educator, or have worked for a school district or university in any capacity.

This includes everyone from custodians, secretaries, aides, pre-school teachers, college professors, guidance counselors, school nurses, cafeteria workers, and even parents who home-school their children.

Participants redeeming the $5 course offer will not be asked to provide any form of educator identification, but will be required to fill out a coupon.

Discounted course coupons are available for download at

The AARP Driver Safety course teaches valuable defensive driving skills and provides a refresher of the rules of the road.

Since 1979, the course has also helped more than 14 million drivers learn proven safety strategies and tips for how to adapt one’s driving to compensate for physical and cognitive changes that may come with aging.

Plus, participants may qualify for an automobile insurance discount by completing the classroom course. Participants should check with their auto insurance agent for details.

Locate a course near you by visiting AARP Driver Safety’s Classroom Course Locator at or by calling 1-888-227-7669. Please note that this promotion is for the classroom course only. It does not apply to the AARP Driver Safety online course.
