The Phoenix Convention Center’s Volunteer Program is recruiting new members. Individuals with a friendly disposition and a spirit of service who are interested in serving as ushers at the facility’s two theatrical venues, Orpheum Theater and Symphony Hall are invited to apply.

Volunteers are often the first point of contact for patrons during theatrical events and concerts. They provide courteous, friendly, knowledgeable service to enhance patrons’ event experience and leave them with a positive first and last impression.

The Phoenix Convention Center volunteer program was established more than 10 years ago and has 250 volunteers who donate more than 19,000 hours of service each year. Twice a month, volunteer docents with the Friends of the Orpheum Theater host free public tours at the historic Orpheum Theater and share its rich history with hundreds of people each year.

Training for new volunteers will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater, 203 W. Adams St. and Symphony Hall, 75 N. Second St. on the following dates: Aug. 11 at Symphony Hall; Aug. 12 at Orpheum Theater.

To sign up for one of the upcoming training sessions, call (602) 495-7139. For more information about the Phoenix Convention Center Volunteer Program, contact Patty McMahon at
