Pedal Power Foundation gearing up to give bikes to needy kids

The Pedal Power Foundation is gearing up for what is expected to be a very busy holiday season, and the nonprofit needs your help. The Phoenix-based nonprofit organization provides a new bicycle, helmet and lock to underprivileged children in the Valley. Along with the gift, each child participates in a bike rally where they learn the rules of the road and bicycle safety. Last year the organization gave away 240 new bikes, helmets and locks, and the goal for 2010 is 300.

Pedal Power will stage a bicycle assembly party on Oct. 16, and volunteers are needed to assemble the new bikes. Bring your tools and meet new friends! The foundation is also in need of financial donations to meet the growing need.
