The last day to sign up for the Tidal Waves Swim Team at the Ahwatukee Community Swim and Tennis Center is Tuesday, May 31. The recreational swim team is for kids ages 6 to 18 who meet minimum swimming qualifications. Practices are Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons with swim meets on Saturday mornings. Children will be able to improve their swimming skills that will last a lifetime, make new friends, get out of the heat and into the pool, and enjoy friendly competition.

Phoenix swim class registration

Registration is open for the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department's full schedule of swim classes and teams. Swim lessons cost $15. The full 2011 swim lesson schedule is viewable online, along with comprehensive pool information, at phoenix.gov/parks. Information is also available by phone at (602) 534-6587 or by sending an email to aquatics.pks@phoenix.gov. Those interested can sign up online with any major credit card or in person at any department community center when registration opens.

Pools open for the season on Memorial Day weekend, May 28-30, from 1 to 7 p.m. All 20 pools then will reopen for full summer operating hours on June 4 from 1 to 7 p.m. six days a week with all pools closed on Fridays.
