The Governor's Office of Highway Safety recently awarded the city's Street Transportation Department a $28,000 grant to enhance its traffic safety efforts.

The grant will be used to increase outreach to neighborhoods and schools by providing educational safety tips that encourage multi-modal usage, such as walking, bicycling and public transit. The grant also will finance traffic safety activity books for schools and public events and increase safety training for traffic engineering staff.

For more information about the Street Transportation Department, visit phoenix.gov/streets or call (602) 262-6441.
