Sweet graduates with honors from NMSU
Johnny Sweet graduated with honors from New Mexico State University on May 8 with a bachelor of business administration degree. He majored in marketing with a specialization in PGA golf management. He achieved an overall GPA of 3.976 and a major GPA of 4.0.
In addition to his academic achievements, Sweet also completed internships at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.; Carnoustie Golf Links in Carnoustie, Scotland; and Charlotte Country Club in Charlotte, N.C.
Sweet has accepted a golf industry account manager position with automatik (a Tempe-based company) and will reside in a home he purchased in Ahwatukee Foothills.
Sweet is the son of Dave and Kathy Sweet and is a 2005 graduate of Valley Christian High School.
Catena heading to law school
Former Desert Vista High School varsity baseball player Anthony Catena has been accepted to Cal Western Law School in San Diego and will start in August.
He graduated from Desert Vista in 2006 and received his degree in political science in three years from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Locals graduate from APU
Ahwatukee Foothills residents Molly Caldwell, Courtney Crawford and Christopher Tansey have graduated from Azusa Pacific University. They were joined by more than 1,300 graduates at the spring commencement ceremonies.
Adams graduates from Biola, looks ahead to doctorate
Jordan Adams graduated from Desert Vista High School in 2006, where he played two years of lacrosse. He then attended Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., and will graduate on May 29 with a degree in kinesiology.
Adams played four years of lacrosse while in college and made the Southwest Lacrosse Conference’s All Conference team three years in a row. He was selected to the Men’s College Lacrosse Association Division II All America team as honorable mention in 2010.
Adams will return to Arizona to begin his doctorate in physical therapy at Mid Western University in Glendale.
Mees graduates from Univ.
of Northern Colorado
Ahwatukee Foothills resident Andrew David Mees received his bachelor’s degree in sport and exercise science from the University of Northern Colorado during spring 2010 graduation ceremonies.
Hsu graduates from Rice University
Ahwatukee Foothills resident Vicki Hsu graduated summa cum laude on May 15 from Rice University in Houston, Texas. She received a bachelor of arts in English and visual and dramatic arts.
