13th annual BARKtoberfest set for Oct. 13

Excitement is in the air for this annual Valley party in the park for adults and children to celebrate the relationships we share with our most loyal of friends — DOGS!

Friends for Life Animal Rescue’s 13th annual BARKtoberfest will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Gilbert Town Center, 50 E. Civic Center Drive (southeast corner of Gilbert and Warner roads).

This is a free event, although some activities require a small donation to participate.

Recently voted the East Valley Tribune’s 2012 “best place to hang out with your dog,” BARKtoberfest has grown each year as 2,500 or more people attend the event to enjoy shopping, fine arts and crafts, live entertainment, dog wash, lure course, dog art (DOGvinci), dog adoptions, raffles, contests for pet and owner look-a-like, best trick and costumes, and much more.

Funds raised from the event aid in saving the lives of homeless dogs and cats in our community.

Those who have adopted a dog from Friends for Life will participate in the can’t-miss alumni parade at noon.

For a detailed schedule of events, visit www.azfriends.org, or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
