An absolutely amazing thing happened at our golf course last week. One of my members made a hole-in-one on the difficult Par 3 11th hole.

After the group high-fived each other and the cheering died down the next guy stepped up and knocked his ball into the hole right on top of the first one. Back-to-back aces.

There was less celebrating this time as they stared in disbelief and began saying, “Oh my gosh, are we going to get struck by lightning next?”

We decided to Google this and see what the chances are of two golfers getting consecutive hole-in-ones. It turned out to be 17 million to one. Wow!

Just for fun I decided to see what the odds of three aces in a row were. It jumps to an astronomical 23 billion to one. No wonder it’s never been done.

As mind boggling as those kind of numbers are, there is another set of numbers that make back-to-back aces look like an everyday occurrence. It has to do with this fella named Jesus.

If you’ve spent much time reading the Bible you know that the majority of it is the “Old Testament.” Those are the stories leading up to the birth of Jesus. It includes more than 300 different “prophesies” or predictions about the coming “Messiah.”

So along comes Jesus and it turns out he fulfills all 300 predictions about who the “Chosen One” would be.

Among those prophesies were things like where he would be born (Bethlehem), how he would die (crucifixion), how much his betrayer would get paid (30 pieces of silver), and how many words he chose to say at his trial (zero).

The braniacs at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) did the math and calculated that the odds of any one person fulfilling just eight of the Old Testament prophesies was 1 in 10 to the 28th power (that’s a 1 with 28 zeroes after it).

To put this in terms a golfer can relate to that would be the same odds as 10 golfers in a row making a hole-in-one on the same hole. Double wow!

Come on people, if you’re sort of thinking Jesus was just a nice guy who walked the earth 2,000 years ago and gave a good sermon or two then you might want to take another look at him.

Personally, I’m going with the odds on this one. Jesus … you are “The Man!”

“And on that day, every knee will bend and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Phil. 2:10).

I'll second that phrase: "Jesus--you Da Man!!" Without Him in my life, I'm nothing but with Him I've seen and experienced amazing things (Jeremiah 33:3)...

Haven't had a hole in one yet but I have filled the hole in my heart with Jesus and that is what matters most.

Thanks for this insight Brad. Cheers, my friend...
