Kyrene School District officials recently received tax credit donation results for 2012, showing a nearly $35,000 decrease.
In the past five years, the amount of donations had maintained a steady increased, according to a presentation by Jackie Mattinen, director of business services for the district.
Donations to the district from the community fund enrichment classes, extra-curricular activities, and temporary short-term capital expenditures like physical education equipment and library books.
Kyrene received its highest boost in donations since 2008 when donation totals reached $1,957,513 in 2011, a $158,000 increase from the previous year.
Though donations have seemingly plateaued this year, Mattinen touted Kyrene for being the only elementary school district on the list of the top nine districts in Arizona in terms of donation totals.
“It really speaks volumes to the support that we receive from the community,” she said.
Tax credit donations are made to public school districts in the state by individuals.
