Auditions for Ahwatukee Foothills Ballet’s 15th annual performance of “The Nutcracker” will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at Dance Studio 111, 4910 E. Chandler Boulevard, Suite 111.

Dancers ages 3 to 22 are invited to try out. Kimberly Lewis, owner of Dance Studio 111, said she’s proud that this is the only local show performed by only young, local dancers.

“Fifteen years of the magic of the Nutcracker Ballet is possible because of the love and support of our wonderful community,” Lewis said. “Thank you for so many years of magic.”

The studio is looking for dancers with ballet training. Boy actors, ages 8 to 15, are also needed for one scene. No dance experience is necessary for that part.

This is an open audition, and dancers from all over the Valley are encouraged to attend.

Dancers are asked to have their hair pulled back in a tight bun, wear a black leotard, pink tights and have ballet or pointe shoes.

“The Nutcracker” has become a tradition in Ahwatukee Foothills. The show will be performed for the public in December at the Desert Vista Fine Arts Theatre.
