This Saturday, the day before Mother's Day, Jennifer Gonzales will be doing something for her 10-month-old daughter.

She'll be working.

"I want to do it for her," she said. "I want to become successful and be able to work part time or full time, but also be home with her more than what I am right now."

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, local vendors will be selling goods at the Foothills Golf Club's ballroom for the first Simply Unique Boutique.

Gonzales, 24, a former Ahwatukee Foothills resident, founded Simply Unique Event Planning in March. She decided to start her own company following the birth of her daughter, Olivia, on July 16.

Gonzales, a graduate of Scottsdale Community College, worked in the event industry for nearly six years, planning events for anywhere from five to 200 people. She first started out at the Foothills Golf Club, where the Simply Unique Boutique is taking place.

Gonzales began researching trunk shows and boutiques after her daughter was born.

"I went to a few trunk shows, trade shows, boutiques if you will, and had just gathered information from vendors really for my own use," she said. "And then started thinking about it just about three months ago, saying ‘What can I do? What can I do to better myself and ultimately make more money?'"

People who frequent similar trunk shows and boutiques may recognize some of the vendors at the event.

"As long as they've seen these shows before, people will know (these vendors). They're vendors that are out there every weekend," Gonzales said. "It's geared towards women only because (it has) jewelry, makeup, clothing and baby accessories."

Other items Simply Unique Boutique's vendors will sell include green cleaning products, pet supplies and purses.

"As of now, we've got 35 vendors lined up," Gonzales said, adding that she plans to have boutiques every few months. The next one is scheduled for August.

"We're not going to go to the same location," she said. "It will be a different location each time."

Gonzales has planned weddings, corporate events and bridal showers, but this is the first event she's planned for her new company.

"It's different only because it's mine," she said. "It's something I want to make sure succeeds."

Foothills Golf Club is at 2201 E. Clubhouse Drive. Admission and parking are free for the boutique this weekend. For more information, call (480) 460-4653.
