FUNnecting, an Ahwatukee-based organization that provides fundraising, event planning and networking services, will host its 2014 Disco Fall Fever to support local businesses in Ahwatukee and the Kyrene Foundation.

The Disco Fall Fever will feature a plethora of activities such as a fashion show and a hypnotist, and will also include vendors.

This is the first big charity event that FUNnecting has done in the Ahwatukee area, said co-owner Petra Hansen.

Hansen has been involved with the Kyrene Foundation for a few years by volunteering at Taste of Kyrene and at the Kyrene Resource Center.

Hansen and her business partner, Elizabeth Van Scoit, were both interested in formulating a charity event that benefits schools and businesses in the Ahwatukee area.

“Being able to help the charities is a huge thing,” Hansen said.

Kim Kendall, owner of Clothes Minded in Ahwatukee, will provide entertainment during the event by hosting a fashion show. Kendall and her models will display outfits for the fall season that can be purchased at Clothes Minded.

Each model will have their makeup and hair done by Adam Pink Salon.

“We’ve done fashions shows with FUNnecting before, but this one is going to be bigger and better because there’s going to be a runway, some music and it’s going to be a good show,” she said.

Kendall, whose business has been in Ahwatukee since 2013, wanted to get involved with the Disco Fall Fever because some of the proceeds would benefit the Kyrene Foundation, which will receive 25 percent of the ticket sales and a portion of the raffle sales.

“It’s always fun to get together with people in the community that raises awareness about all of our different companies and help out with charities,” Kendall said.

The Disco Fall Fever is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Foothills Golf Club, 2201 E. Clubhouse Drive.

Presale tickets cost $15 and can be purchased online at www.funnecting.com. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $20.
