A new service at Mountain View Lutheran Church will be offered beginning this Sunday, August 27 that will appeal to the youth of the Ahwatukee Foothills community.

The service, called e44, an acronym for Ephesians 4, will celebrate unity within the church, Youth Direct and designer of e44 Colin Noonan said.

"The verse really popped out to us," he said. "Often times we tend to put our hope in things that let us down. This passage talks about unity and celebrating hope."

The verse states, "For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future." Noonan said it is a positive message in that it "feels like God is putting hope back in him."

There has not necessarily been a decline in youth attendance, Noonan said, but he has seen inconsistency.

"We felt there are so many opportunities to reach out to the kids of the communities," he said. "We are hoping that this service will offer inspiring words to them."

The service is based around a typical church service with the structure of the worship being the same, but presented in a way that it will connect with teens, according to Noonan.

"We're trying to get them reconnected and to view the church as exciting and upbeat," he said. "We're trying to figure out the next steps, what do we need, not just for the Mountain View community, but for the Ahwatukee Foothills community."

Although it is designed for teens, people of all ages can participate.

The e44 service will be held this Sunday at 10:44 a.m.in the Mountain View Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 11002 S. 48th Street. To find out more information, visit www.e44Online.org.
