It has been six years since the inaugural meeting of Ahwatukee Chat, Chew and Chocolate (CCC). The women's group has seen a myriad of speakers since inception and plans to kick off its sixth year with its original guest, musician Mary Hoffman.

CCC is a place for women to come and talk openly, cutting out superficiality, and making new friends, Hoffman said.

"I love it," she added. "It's different because when someone talks, everyone listens."

Hoffman will play at the group's Sept. 21 meeting at Hillside Spot, 4740 E. Warner Road in Ahwatukee Foothills, from 6 to 9 p.m. She is working on a second CD and is planning to release it by the end of the year.

"I was so honored when she accepted," said Liz Elston, the Ahwatukee neighborhood director of CCC. "She's a kind person and to have her here to launch our sixth year is amazing."

Hoffman has previously opened for Kenny Chesney after winning his "Next Big Star" competition for the Phoenix round in 2008. In 2009, Hoffman won the Chicks with Picks "Next Talented Chick" contest and warmed up for Michelle Branch and Sarah Buxton at Tempe Town Lake.

Tickets are $21 for one and $38 if you buy two. That includes a light meal, wine and, of course, chocolate. To register or to find out more information, visit www.ahwatukeeccc.com.
