Last week this handsome boy was rescued by volunteers with Friends for Life Animal Rescue in Gilbert near Ahwatukee Foothills, just off Interstate 10 and Wild Horse Pass. He was found at the Love’s truck stop sleeping under the semi trucks at night. He would come around the same time every day for food at the nearby Arby’s, but he has no collar with ID tags or a microchip.
“I believe the people who had him were not local, but they did come back twice to Love’s to look for him so I am hoping they are at least still in Arizona,” said Kathy Dunham, volunteer president for Friends for Life Animal Rescue. “Maricopa County (Animal Care and Control) went out but couldn’t catch him. His hair looks as though he had a grooming job that had grown out some.”
Dunham and fellow Friends for Life volunteer Melinda Hertel went out to Love’s and lured this guy within five minutes using an Arby’s Bacon Cheddar Melt.
“I think the bacon did it,” said Dunham, who is extending the shelter adoption time for this handsome guy since they know he has owners out there looking for him.
“We know someone is looking for this guy and we’re trying to get his picture posted. He’ll be adopted as soon as he’s available, so we want to do our best to find his family if we can,” Dunham said. “We will most likely hold him longer, approximately two weeks, to see if we can locate his owners before he is adopted out.”
