The Mountain Pointe High School varsity football team has one less piece of equipment to buy this season and, more importantly, one that is crucial to their health and safety.

Dr. Chris Woolaver of Woolaver Clearsmiles in Ahwatukee Foothills gifted 60 custom mouth pieces to Mountain Pointe football players on Friday. He closed down his office on Aug. 3 as he and his staff molded, fitted and created the mouth guards, which will sport the school’s logo and colors.

The mouth guard usually costs about $50 and is an important piece of equipment that can help against concussions and protect the player’s teeth. Players filtered in and out throughout the morning at his office, with each mouth guard taking about 20 minutes to complete.

“It has been shown that mouth guards can be very beneficial when it comes to concussions and other head injuries,” said Trisha Zilles, spokesperson for Woolaver Clearsmiles. “He wanted to do this for the whole varsity football team at Mountain Pointe so it was one less thing to buy and worry about.”

This was the first year Woolaver has done this for the Mountain Pointe team, but it is the latest act of charity to the community. He has previously worked with families in the Kyrene School District.

Woolaver Clearsmiles is located at 4425 E. Agave Road. To find out more, visit www.clearsmilesaz.com or call (480) 240-9393.
