A community garage sale of sorts will be hosted by Mountain View Lutheran Church on Saturday, with the proceeds going to the Youth Ministries.

The parking lot at MVLC, 11002 S. 48th St., will be divided up and people will be able to rent out spaces to sell their goods. Prices vary from $20 to $30 for each space, depending on if the person wants a covered spot or tables and chairs.

"Ultimately, everyone is having their own mini garage sale," director of youth ministries Colin Noonan said. "We decided to rent out parking spaces to come and bring their own stuff to sell, instead of having people donate items."

The majority of the funds raised will go to send up to six youths to the National Youth Gathering, an event that brings together a collection of youth groups from around the country and instills three core practices: Discipleship, peacemaking and justice.

The gathering is put on by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and takes place July 18-22, 2012 in New Orleans. The total cost to send each youth is $1,200.

For those who want to participate, registration forms can be found at the Mountain View Lutheran Church office, or online at www.MVLutheran.org. Registration forms must be turned in with payment no later than this Friday. The Parking Lot Sale will take place from 7 a.m. to noon on Oct. 22.
