When Dr. Matthew Cavaiola opened his office in Ahwatukee Foothills, he was filling a need he saw in the community. That need was to give the people of Ahwatukee Foothills an outlet into the world of naturopathic medicine.

Cavaiola opened the Phoenix Anti-Aging Clinic, 11011 S. 48th St., two months ago and during that time has been a resource for residents who want to take a more natural route in dealing with their health.

"People really want answers for their health problems," he said.

As the name suggests, Cavaiola and his team at the Phoenix Anti-Aging Clinic offer services, such as acupuncture, IV nutrient therapy and bioidentical hormone replacement, to counteract the effects that aging has on the body.

"The most important thing is understanding where the issues are coming from and dealing with the cause of the problem," Cavaiola said. "My goal is to not just treat the symptoms but to fight the cause."

New patients receive an hour of consultation in which Cavaiola asks a wide range of questions regarding personal lifestyle. One of the most important issues to discuss, he said, is the patient's diet.

"The diet is very important because there are horrible things found in fast food that we are putting into our bodies on daily basis," he said. "During that initial visit, I am able to develop a good sense about the person and use outside-the-box thinking to help them with whatever issues they have. Including adjusting their diet."

Hormone imbalance can be the cause of many issues associated with aging. The bioidentical hormone replacement offered at the clinic can help adjust those levels by using testosterone, estrogen, progesterone or thyroid hormones.

Cavaiola is also a certified acupuncturist. He speaks highly of the practice saying that it has a unique ability to rekindle the energy that flows through the body.

"Acupuncture was developed and perfected over thousands of years," Cavaiola said. "It opens up the chi and can correct imbalances that have the ability to help with a variety of illnesses."
