Kyrene Monte Vista Elementary School will be hosting its annual Spring Carnival with many entertaining attractions for the entire family to enjoy.
Some attractions consist of a 40-foot inflated obstacle course, along with a 200-foot zip line. Tickets to ride and play the games can be purchased for 50 cents each.
“It’s literally like a carnival. It takes over the entire grassy area in the back of our school,” said Karen Meinerz, Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) vice president.
There will also be multiple raffle prizes and silent auctions during the event, along with food vendors from the Ahwatukee community such as Florencia Pizza Bistro and Yoasis.
Volunteers from the PTO and the community assist with getting everything completed before the Spring Carnival, and there will be more than 200 volunteers during the event.
“We have our core volunteers who actually coordinate the auction items and the food vendors,” Meinerz said.
The PTO also seeks volunteers from different clubs around the school such as student council, National Honors Society and high school students who are in need of community service hours.
Meinerz said they were projecting nearly 500 people from the community to attend Saturday’s carnival.
“It’s for the community and it definitely reaches out. Everyone kind of comes together in the community to make sure that they are either physically present or they have donated something to show they’re present and their support for the school,” she said. “It’s definitely amazing and does help us out with the carnival.”
The Spring Carnival will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Monte Vista Elementary School, 15221 S. Ray Road.
There is no cost to attend the carnival, but tickets are needed for the rides and to purchase food.
