Chat, Chew and Chocolate’s Ahwatukee chapter has strived to keep the group’s same motto for seven years; no gossip or drama, just fabulous women.

Next week, the group will be celebrating its anniversary by hosting a Third Annual Queen Diva Event, in which the women honor a “veteran.”

“It’s so different from any networking group because it inspires and empowers you,” said Neighborhood Director Elizabeth Elston, who started the Ahwatukee chapter in 2005.

“To me, it’s always been about connecting people.”

After hearing about the original Chat, Chew and Chocolate in the central Phoenix area, Elston thought Ahwatukee Foothills needed something that would bring women together, and began directing for the Ahwatukee area.

“Every single person has a story, and I thought I could start this thing to hear each other’s stories,” Elston said.

Now with an average of about 30 women who gather around friendship twice a month, Elston hopes the group would keep its original motives at the core.

With the motto of “No drama, no business, no negativity, no snobs, no gossip, just fabulous women,” a total of 1,500 women have come through the group since its inception.

“They just love the connection of other women,” Elston added. “It’s unbelievable to me that we’re in the seventh year.”

While the group doesn’t have memberships, they try to keep registration costs low.

Elston also mentioned the group’s “Question Connection,” a list of life-themed questions the women get to answer. The questions’ popularity proved to Elston that it will remain to be a key part of the monthly gatherings.

New changes, however, include switching their signature monthly event day to the fourth Wednesday of the month. The group also hosts “coffee chats” once a month.

“It brings a closeness that women want,” Elston said. “For this event, I want people to know it’s an experience, and we’ll always welcome you.”

Ahwatukee’s Chat, Chew and Chocolate Third Annual Queen Diva Event will be on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the Foothills Golf Club, 2201 E. Clubhouse Drive.
