A missing Ahwatukee Foothills girl has been found safe, according to her family.

McKayla McCormick went missing during the night on Jan. 9, 2013. She was found safe more than a month later in Buckeye.

“She was picked up in Buckeye by police,” said her grandmother, Ann Ames. “We are not releasing her location, but she is with family. The runaway squad was instrumental in her return… She is doing well.”

Ames said the family is waiting on legal issues.

McCormick, 15, was listed as endangered by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children because she was found inside her home with a 20-year-old man a few days before her disappearance.

Her family canvassed the Waddell, Peoria and Glendale areas looking for McCormick, but she was ultimately found in Buckeye on Friday, Feb. 22.

“We wanted to confirm McKayla has been found safe,” her family posted on a Facebook page created to help find her. “We thank all those who helped get the word out, all those who helped with the investigation, and all those who supported us with their thoughts and prayers.”
