Disney will be visiting Ahwatukee Foothills this Thursday, Dec. 12, and hosting an open audition to find musical theater performers for its Disney Cruise Line.

Open auditions will begin at 9 a.m. at Dance Studio 111, 4910 E. Chandler Blvd., Suite 111.

Selected performers will be offered a nine-month contract to work on Disney’s luxury cruise liners, Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, sailing to Bahamian, Caribbean and Mediterranean ports, beginning in March of 2014. Performers will appear as Disney characters in musical theater productions, meet and greets, events and productions on the ships.

Kimberly Lewis, owner of Dance Studio 111, said this is the second time Disney has asked to host auditions in her studio. At the last open audition three years ago she saw several of her dancers offered a job.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Lewis said. “Dancers are training in these dance studios their whole life and this is an opportunity for them to make a career and work for Disney. I highly encourage all dancers age 18 and above to come out for this audition. It’s a great opportunity and they are casting for their cruise line so you’ll be able to travel the world and do what dancers do best, and that’s perform.”

Performers must be 18 years or older and come to the audition with a current headshot and resume. Be prepared to learn a movement and animation exercise.

Disney is seeking females 4 feet, 8 inches tall to 5 feet, 7 inches tall; and males 5 feet, 2 inches tall to 5 feet, 7 inches or 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet, 3 inches. Candidates will be measured at the audition.
