God’s Garden Preschool in Ahwatukee will be hosting its 14th annual Transportation Day on the school’s grounds, inviting the entire community to the fun-filled event.
Transportation Day is an event that centers on giving back to the community, and poses as a fundraiser for the school.
It’s the school’s biggest event, with more than 4,000 community members expected to celebrate.
Inside the parking lot community members will be able to appreciate 40 different car models. Cars will consist of buses to fire trucks, along with a hot-air balloon. A helicopter landing will take place during the opening of the event.
Every type of vehicle imaginable will be present during the event, said Melissa Lien, Transportation Day coordinator.
“We just try and bring in as many vehicles as we can, they are all volunteered,” she said. “Some of the vehicles have been here for the 14 years.”
Fun activities for kids of all ages will be located in the “Fun Zone” of Transportation Day, where children can enjoy playing in inflatable bouncers.
In addition to the numerous cars to explore, there will be more than 120 assorted bags that will be raffled off to people who purchase raffle tickets.
Raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 or six for $5.
“It’s just a much loved event, especially people who have young families. It’s a community event where you can bring the entire Ahwatukee community out,” Lien said. “Aside from the Festival of Lights, there aren’t as many major events that bring in everybody.”
The 14th annual Transportation Day will take place Saturday, Feb. 22 at God’s Garden Preschool, 1401 E. Liberty Lane, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There is no admission cost to attend the event.
